Exceptional Authors with Books in Different Genres

Literature wouldn’t be that bright and interesting if it weren’t for the exceptional authors that create wonderful works. These talented individuals have played a big part in the literary realm since the Anglo-Saxon period until this contemporary era. Hence, there have been wide arrays of stories produced that are both product of imagination or real experiences. What these writers do are more than just writing and expression, they go beyond the line of communication because they are making differences in the world and joys in people’s lives.

However, these remarkable authors are as diverse as the books in literature. Most of them are popular not just in one genre but in two or more. This just show how adaptable and talented these writers are for having produced works that have crossed multiple genres; that said, provided below are the authors with books that are categorized in different genres.

J.K. Rowling

Joanne Rowling is popularly known in her pen names J.K. Rowling and Robert Galbraith in literature. She is both an author and a philanthropist.  Rowling was born in Gloucestershire, England on July 31, 1965. Rowling started to conquer the literary world in 1997 for having published the first book of the remarkable Harry Potter series, which is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone or Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. After a couple of years, Harry Potter became a 7-book series and each of the novels was adapted into film.

However, fantasy is not the only genre that J.K. Rowling touched. Her other works are also classified as fiction, YA, tragicomedy, crime fiction, and children’s literature. Because of her exceptional writing talent and works, she was awarded by multiple prestigious awards including the Order of the Companionsof Honour, Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and more.

Stephen King

The most promising horror fiction author, Stephen King, was born in Portland, Maine on September 21, 1947. Although he is popularly known in literature and film with his birth name, he also has pseudonyms which are Richard Bachman, John Swithen, and Beryl Evans. King’s journey towards literary success wasn’t smooth; he had gone through a lot before having the break that he deserved. However, all his hardships were exchanged with sweet rewards in the form of selling million copies, topping bestselling charts, and having his books adapted into films.

Horror fiction is not the only genre that King’s works delve in. Supernatural fiction, dark fantasy, post-apocalyptic fiction, suspense, crime fiction, thriller, and gothic are also some of the categories that his works touch. Moreover, Stephen King was awarded with multiple awards in different parts of his writing journey. Among the awards bestowed to him are Bram Stoker Awards, Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters, British Fantasy Society Awards, National Medal of Arts, and more.

Shel Silverstein

Sheldon Allan Silverstein, also known as Shel Silverstein, was born in Chicago, Illinois in September 25, 1930. He is one of the best children’s literature authors not just on the year when he published his works but until today. Unfortunately, he died when he reached 68 years old in Key West, Florida and his remains are buried in the Westlawn Cemetery of Norridge, Illinois. But even after his death, he is still known for being an amazing author, playwright, songwriter, poet, and cartoonist that had touched multiple lives.

His books are not only categorized as children’s fiction but are also in black comedy. Now here’s my plan, The Giving Tree, A Giraffe and a Half, A Light in the Attic, Take Ten, and Now Here’s My Plan are some of his works. Shel won the Grammy in 1970 for his song A Boy Named Sue and received a nomination for an Oscar and Golden Globe Award for I’m Checkin’ Out.

Attilio Guardo

The romance genre and children’s literature genre are two different categories. However, both are considered as entertaining, amazing, and bestselling genres. Author Attilio Guardo is a promising author that has successfully published works that belong to the two categories. The Other Side of Live, The Miracle of Wendy Whimple, Stabby and the Squirrel Community, The Puppy without a Tail, and The Bald Eagle Who Wanted to Fly the American Flag are the wonderful books of Guardo.

Guardo found his love towards writing in such a young age. He already created a novel titled Three Ways that is composed of 55 pages when he was 9 years old. After two years, he wrote a play that was presented in their backyard. Imagine how remarkable that would be for a person at an early age. According to Attilio, “I want to say that if I had to start my life over, I would pursue vigorously a career in the field of writing. I would also love to spend a great deal of my time in the world of art, painting with oil and watercolor.”
